PRIMARY SCHOOL, FAREHAM, HAMPSHIRE This 630-place primary school was built in two phases on a wooded site in Hampshire. The original part of the school, for 420 pupils, consists of a sweep of classrooms facing south onto the woodland, with resource areas, cloakrooms and toilets behind. The main entrance, administration spaces and the hall are centrally positioned on the north side. Consideration has been given to function, sustainability and visual enjoyment. All classrooms are naturally lit and ventilated with direct access to a deck for outside learning. They have views to the south and daylight reaches the backs of classrooms through rooflights. The external areas have been designed as part of the whole with a woodland walk allowing pupils to benefit from their beautiful natural location. |
