The school grounds are used in all curriculum areas. In the playground, contrast and variety of experience help children learn. Coloured markings define areas and shapes. There is provision for chess, hopscotch and snakes and ladders, as well as a numbered grid and a Schlegel mathematical figure. Markings are reinforced by other features for play, such as fixed tyres to climb on, a boat and a concrete humpbacked bridge. 'Shells' form protected enclaves for storytelling.
