The many projects explored in this research had diverse funding models. None were self sustaining.
There is no doubt that a GridClub will be expensive to implement and a number of funding arrangements are possible ranging from subscription, through advertising support to centrally funded public service.A clear view to emerge from the research is that sites limited in access by subscription will fail. Another clear concern was of the existing level of exposure of children to advertising in the Internet.
For a GridClub the choices are clear:Fund the entire activity out of public funds.
Find sponsorship support (but not advertising revenue) to support the activity.
