Some 75% of secondary children try to get through the school day without using the school toilets. Those large, adult free, industrial scale toilets are a source of bullying, indiscipline and are often, in the children's words, "minging". So they drink very little; inevitably dehydration massively damages their concentration and behaviour. By building unisex, classroom based, single or double toilets, standards of behaviour, hygiene and student satisfaction all improve dramatically. Children then rehydrate happily and performance improves significantly.
