Passing Time on the Promenade
A collection of digital images, showing transformation in one day at Southend-on-Sea, including the Sealife Centre and Adventure Island Theme Park.
We were: Paul Ambrose, Rachel Furniss, Zoe Donovan and Narel Thompson
Schools were: The Greensward College
Process: We first decided on our topic for our Transformation show. We couldn't decide on one idea so instead we chose to use lots of smaller transformations, and combine them into one presentation. The setting for our show is Southend-on-Sea.
Once at Southend, we began taking pictures using the digital cameras, showing the town empty. As the day went on we took more pictures, eventually showing it bustling with life.
We visited a few places where we were going to show transformations. First on the list was The Sealife Centre. Inside we found dogfish, in the egg stage and as fully grown adults. We also saw rays, starfish and crabs in the centre.
After leaving we progressed down the promenade toward Adventure Island Theme Park, where we filmed several shots of different rides, and the progression of candy floss from sugar. Our day at Southend was finished after we had taken over 120 shots, which included The Sealife Centre, the tide coming in and the Theme Park.
Once back at the College, we downloaded the shots from the day onto a laptop. We began making playdough models that we wanted on our show. After making them though, we decided not to use playdough, and used plasticine instead (it stayed flexible). After making them, we cleverly edited the pictures and pasted them onto the show.
After adding the finishing touches, Zoe composed some music for the presentation. Throughout the course we recorded our ideas on a dictaphone.
We hope you enjoy 'Passing Time on the Promenade.'
