NOTICE OF RACE

 

The International Mirror Class European and National Championship will be hosted by Brightlingsea Sailing Club and the Mirror UK Association in co-operation with the International Mirror Class Association.

The event will be held from 6th to 11th August 2000

1. RULES

The regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 1997 - 2000, the Rules of the International Mirror Class, this Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions and their appendices and any amendments.

2. ELIGIBILITY

The European Championship will be open to all boats of the International Mirror Class that meet with the obligations of the Class Rules and their National Authority, in the case that the National Authority exists.

The helm must be a member of the International Mirror Association.

3. REGISTRATION

Registration will take place at Brightlingsea Sailing Club between 13.00 and 16.00 on Friday 4th, 10.00 and 18.00 on Saturday 5th and 9.00 and 12.00 on Sunday 6th August.

 

4. ENTRY

Entries will be booked in order of receipt of the entry form, on-line or by post, which must be accompanied by the Entry Fee for all UK entries. Entry will close on 6th August prior to the commencement of Race 1.

5. ENTRY FEE

The Entry Fee will be £95 sterling, payable to BSC Mirror Europeans. This charge includes tickets for official functions for all competing crews and two event shirts where entry fee is received before 1st August 2000.

6. ADVERTISING

Advertising will be allowed within the limits imposed by the UKIMCA and the IMCA. Boats may be expected to carry the principal event sponsor’s logo.

7. MEASUREMENT - INSPECTION

Measurement and sail registration shall initially take place during Saturday 5th August. Boats will be measured in entry order. A single set of sails, spars and foils shall be registered for each boat. All registration shall be completed before the entry is valid.

The organisers may weigh, measure, inspect any boat and/or her equipment before, during or after the races.

8. SCHEDULE OF RACES

The series will consist of 10 races of which the score for one race will be discarded if six races are sailed. The score for two races will be discarded when all ten races are sailed.

The schedule start time of the first race is 14.00 on Sunday 6th August. There will be two races a day from Monday 7th until Thursday 10th August inclusive with a single race on Sunday 6th August and Friday 11th August. The first race each day will take place not earlier than 11.30.

Should the entry reach a size that presents problems in race management or affects the fairness of the competition, the race committee reserve the right to divide the fleet into separate groups.

9. SCORING SYSTEM

The Bonus Point System RRS Appendix A2.2 shall apply.

10. INTERNATIONAL JURY

An International Jury has be appointed in accordance with RRS 89 (c) and Appendix Q. The right of appeal is denied subject to RRS 70.4

11. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available from the Regatta Office during registration.

12. IDENTIFICATION

On water identification will be by white jib number (issued to competitors). Numbers will be allocated in strict order of entries received.

13. LIABILITY

The safety of the boat and her entire management shall be the sole and inescapable responsibility of the owner or owners representative.

Boat owners and competing crews must ensure that they are adequately insured against loss, damage, or injury to person, boats and equipment at any time, however occurring and maintain third party insurance of not less than £1,000,000 or equivalent, from time of arrival to time of departure from Brightlingsea Sailing Club.

The organisers may require written proof of insurance when the boat is registered for the event. No responsibility will be accepted either by Brightlingsea Sailing Club, The International/National Class Association or any other party involved in the organisation of the Regatta.

14. PRIZES

Daily prizes will be awarded based on the combined total points of each days racing.

The European and National Championship Trophies will be awarded to the boat with the overall lowest score. The Youth and Junioir titles will be awarded to the highest placed under 19 and under 16.

15. SOCIAL

There will be a full social programme which will be available for competitors and their guests.

16. ACCOMMODATION

Competitors should make their own arrangements and, unless using the on-site camping facilities, are strongly advised to do so before arriving for the event. There is plentiful and varied accomodation available; an hotel and accommodation list will be made available from Brightlingsea Sailing Club from 29th July 1999.

17. COACHES

National sailing squad coaches are welcome. Moorings for their RIBs and bookable space for coaching are freely available on request.

Spectator boats will be available daily for the race course area. A free ferry service will be run between Brightlingsea and
