 Mealtimes and coffee breaks
Although breakfast may have been just a roll and coffee, people tend to stop mid-morning for a 'Brotzeit', or 'Zweites Frühstück' when they may have a wholemeal sandwich with sausage or cheese. It's likely that people will eat a proper lunch in any case.
The evening meal is often just 'Abendbrot' with bread and a selection of mixed sausage, cheeses and salad.
Arguing
Arguing is an art - as is being conciliatory! This episode supplies you with stereotype phrases for doing both. Notice how Andreas stops being conciliatory when Gabi reveals she has called him at an unsociable hour - 10 pm is the accepted 'cut-off' point.
Leisure sports
Although Andreas invites Gabi to the horse races at the weekend, this sport is not at all common in Germany. Perhaps that is why Gabi doesn't take the suggestion seriously!
