Grammar notes
Brief
- what to do, step by step.

This task lets you focus on how the language works and how words change in different circumstances.

You will benefit from using your computer wordprocessor here, so that you can organise and re-organise your knowledge as it develops.

  1. Print the Grammar notes.
  2. Create a wordprocessor document to make your own grammar notes.
  3. Organise the examples in your own document using the headings in Grammar Notes.
  4. Print the Scripts if necessary.
  5. Browse through the Grammar notes, to get an overview of how the language is put together.
  6. Looking at the script, find Structures in the Category column and look at the phrase.
  7. Consider which words in the phrase are relevant using the Glossary to confirm. Then refer back to the Grammar notes.
  8. Make notes in your own document to explain the specific phrase structure from the Script and how the Grammar Notes apply.

Grammar notes
Debrief
- how have you done and what next?

Ask a tutor to check your notes. If you'd like further explanations/examples, ask a bookshop or a tutor for advice on appropriate reference material.

Use a grammar reference textbook to check your work, particularly for irregular structures.

Refer to your notes and the Grammar notes supplied when adapting a script for your own purposes. Using the Grammar notes online can be helpful - you can easily move quickly from one point to another.

Continue to dip into the Grammar notes regularly, studying a section at a time. Most examples are taken from the movies. Use the Phrase book to find examples in context in the Scripts. Learn some examples of each new structure by heart.

Puzzled about an aspect of the Grammar notes? Ask Ultra-language-lab for help - just use the Evaluation form.
